During the current COVID-19 pandemic the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust is offering live CPD sessions via Zoom on mental health topics as an alternative to face-to-face training.
Sessions so far have included ‘Working from home during the current outbreak’, ‘Preparing for bereavement’, ‘Self-care for students with eating disorders’, ‘How to manage anxiety’ and ‘Mental health awareness’. We will do our best to tailor these sessions to your needs, although the range of topics may be a little more limited than the variety we can offer face to face. Our trainers will be happy to discuss your topic requirements with you.
We are working hard to ensure that we are still able to support people to look after their mental health and we appreciate your patience and continued support of CWMT during this uncertain period.

About our online training
One of the advantages of online sessions is that it is possible to invite larger audiences. However, we would ask that you ensure that the topic is relevant to all your attendees and their roles so that they remain engaged and derive clear benefits from the training. Although there is obviously less scope for interaction between the trainer and those attending than there would be in a face to face session, we will offer a question and answer facility.
The duration of our online sessions will be a minimum of 30 minutes and we ask you to talk to the trainer you will be working with about the optimum length for your session. Our minimum audience is five people.
Before booking, we ask that you consider what devices your attendees will use to join the session: phones will probably not give a particularly good experience so it would be best if all those attending had access to a desktop computer, laptop or tablet. We ask that the session is not recorded.
We hope you will find it helpful to have this opportunity and we would welcome your feedback on our online sessions. If they prove successful, we will continue to offer them on an ongoing basis as a supplement to our face to face training.
Attendee requirements for CWMT's digital offer
By participating in our online CPD all participants agree that without prior written permission.
They will not copy, modify, reproduce, or in any other way make use of the Course Materials whether written or digital or otherwise
They will not record on video or audio tape, relay by videophone or other means the event delivered by the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust.
Sharing personal experience
The sharing of personal experiences or ‘stories’ helps to educate and train.
Participants should understand that during a session, a Trainer may encourage and seek out examples of personal lived experience from individuals and where appropriate may also choose to share personal stories of their own. By participating participants agree that unless the individual/trainer states otherwise, such personal information is kept confidential by all participants who hear the personal story.
Further information and resources during this period
Periods of uncertainty can be difficult and can impact negatively on our mental health. Some of our peer organisations in the mental health sector have published guidance on maintaining wellbeing through this period, and we have collated some resources along with our own.
