Train the trainer toolkit for primary care

5 Dec 2017

A new toolkit has been published to help primary care providers upskill their workforce in mental health and wellbeing.

The toolkit explains the importance of educating the primary care workforce in mental health and the benefits of using a train the trainer (TTT) approach.

Clear and practical, the toolkit contains:

  • Varied case studies – including three which feature CWMT TTT training

  • Advice on selecting the right training

  • Checklist: 10 steps for organising TTT training

  • Guidance on how to roll out the training

The guide was commissioned and published by Health Education England and written by Dr Sheila Hardy, an independent healthcare consultant and the Trust’s Practice Nurse Educator.

South Lincolnshire CCG, who asked the Trust to deliver TTT training to 18 practice nurses, said, “Eight of the nurses who attended wanted to continue with the other four modules and were prepared to become trainers. The nurses evaluated all modules as excellent and felt confident to teach their peers…We feel that we should be able to empower people that want to make a difference.”
